This is the space that I found would best fit the new storage/display area for my ribbons:
I was ready to head over to WalMart & pick some wall shelves or towel rack, and that would have easily been $15-$20 or more for each one, but then my bff Kat gave me the best idea ever.....and definitely the most cheap & very doable for everyone. Her idea was to use paper towel holders--BRILLIANT!
I still went to Walmart & found a very sturdy holder for $7.85, I used that, but I still had plenty of ribbons left to hang....so the next stop?--The Dollar Store, they were not as sturdy as the one I bought at WalMart, but definitely worked, I screwed them to the wall above my desk, I had wooden dowels and cut to the length I needed to fit between the holder and VOILA! It worked & I couldn't be more happier with the result.
Here is how it ended up looking:
It ended up looking really cool, but it left a bare spot next to it, so I went back to Wally's and picked up a Dry-erase/Cork Board Combo and found that wooden oval rack and wrote the word "scissors" on it, now not so plain. I LOVE IT! What do you guys think?

I love the your new ribbon organizers. The ribbons look fabulous on the paper towel holder. Great use of space! I might have to borrow that idea...Beth
Now THAT is a great idea! I never woud've thought of paper towel holders. Genius! I will be doing that. I've got all my ribbons in one of those roll away carts, not very organized. Plus I don't even know what ribbons I have!
My craft room is currently a mess! I have lots of spools of ribbon, also. I get lots and lots at yard sales for a very cheap price. I can't turn down a good deal. Putting them on towel holders is a good idea. I have a wooden thing (for lack of a better word) on my wall. It is about 2 1/2 inches deep and probably about 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 feet. It is separated into 68 compartments! We used to use it to store cassette tapes in. Well I have this on the wall and the ribbon spools fit perfectly into each compartment. And would you believe it, I still have more ribbon, the rest I store on another shelf on the wall and in a see through bin. You have organized your room very good, that's what I need to do, then maybe I'll have space to make things.
I just found your site, I like it.
